PFT Programming For Tier 2 & 3

One of the goals of the firefighter yearly physicals is to identify and help prevent risk factors.  The goal of the Peer Fitness Trainer program is to allow firefighters to assist their co-workers in achieving the fitness level required to perform the job.  This prevents injury, but also helps to decrease cardiac risk factors, cancer risk factors and will allow the firefighter to better cope with the stress of the job.


By coordinating with a team of Peer Fitness Trainers and using Evolve Tactical Fitness Facilities, we are able to:

  • More efficiently provide fitness services to firefighters that need assistance reaching the fitness standards of the job.

  • Provide funding for firefighters who fall into Tier 3 and are in need of the above service (up to 5 sessions).

  • Provide oversight and guidance from the Providers at WellAmerica and a Doctor of Physical Therapy

By partnering with Evolve Physical Therapy, we are able to provide recovery modalities for these clients, such as:

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy assists in cellular repair.  When the body has an injury, cells become damaged and fail to function normally.  Cold Laser Therapy penetrates deeply into the tissue and works by restoring cell function.  Effects include improved cellular metabolism, tissue healing and circulation.

Progressive Compression Therapy to enhance recovery from muscular soreness and decrease swelling.


electrical stimulation

Electrical stimulation is used at very low levels of current to help in decreasing pain. It helps in reducing pain by allowing the body to produce certain pain killers called endorphins. This is best used in conjunction with other therapies
